The task
The circuit in Jeddah was modernised: timing and camera surveillance were to be brought up to Formula 1 standard. The equipment has to sit right at the track – in other words, outdoors.
Time to the race was tight and the technology demanding. On top of that came the local conditions: high temperatures and desert sand.
The solution
ZPAS supplied around 20 outdoor enclosures in various sizes, complete with cooling: every cabinet has its own compressor cooling unit with up to 4 kW of cooling capacity. They house the equipment for monitoring the races – from video equipment to timing. The photos taken on site show how the cabinets are equipped:
- sun roof above the cabinet against direct solar radiation
- side-mounted compressor cooling units, protected under the sun roof
- CEE sockets for the power connection
- installed right at the track boundary and behind the catch fence, with generators alongside
