When an open rack is the better choice
Doors and side panels protect — but they cost time with every task. Where the room itself is secured and air-conditioned, the open rack plays to its strengths: access from all sides, unobstructed airflow via the room air conditioning, fast reconfiguration when patching and testing. That is why SRD and SRX are typically found in data centres, in labs, in test bays and in broadcast and media technology. Where dust, access or appearance matter, a closed SZB IT or Z-SERVER is the better choice.
SRD: the flexible one — continuously adjustable frame spacing
The SRD is a bolted construction made of horizontal aluminium profiles (60 × 30 mm) and vertical steel uprights. Its trump card: the distance between the 19″ planes can be set continuously from 130 to 695 mm — so it adapts exactly to the equipment depth. Load capacity: 150 kg per rack.
SRX: the sturdy one — welded, 250 kg
The SRX consists of two welded 19″ frames that are bolted onto a two-part base. The frame spacing is adjustable in 50 mm steps from 131 to 631 mm. The welded design provides a load capacity of 250 kg — enough for heavy power supplies, UPS modules and full cable bundles.
