The Z-SERVER is ZPAS’s premium 19″ server rack for data centres and server rooms: high-strength, dismountable frame made of steel profiles with 42–47 U, depths 1000/1200 mm, a static load capacity of 1,600 kg on levelling feet or 2,000 kg without levelling feet, and perforated doors (86 % of the surface, 80 % air permeability) — the basis of the Z-SERVER BOX cold aisle containment.

Modern servers are getting heavy: GPU systems, UPS and cooling components quickly add up to 800–1,200 kg per rack. The Z-SERVER carries 1,600 kg on levelling feet and 2,000 kg without levelling feet, standing directly on the floor (mounting rails 50–150 mm from the front/rear, evenly distributed load). If heavy equipment is installed on movable sliding rails, the retrofittable reinforcement kit is recommended. The door perforation takes care of the air supply: 86 % of the door surface, 80 % air permeability — the servers draw in cool air without obstruction.

From the plinth and heavy-duty equipment shelves (up to 200 kg on six rails) to tool-free blanking panels: the complete 19″ accessories range fits the Z-SERVER and can be supplied factory-fitted on request.
Z-SERVER BOX: from rack to cold aisle containment
The Z-SERVER is designed as a system: with roofs, sliding doors and seals, rows of racks are joined to form the Z-SERVER BOX cold aisle/hot aisle containment — cool supply air and warm exhaust air remain separated, and the energy required for cooling drops significantly. In addition, there are airflow components inside the rack, cable management and mounting parts for power strips (PDU). The Databox product page shows all components of the containment with their catalogue numbers. Complete data centre concepts with containment, cooling and monitoring: data centre & server room solutions. For high-load applications: server racks for AI & GPU.
It also works the other way round, one size smaller: with air conditioning, UPS installation space, access control and monitoring, a single Z-SERVER becomes a micro data centre — the edge data centre in a rack for sites without their own server room.
Cooling in and on the rack
In an air-conditioned data centre, room cooling does the work — the Z-SERVER provides the airflow with 86 % door perforation. At higher densities, cold aisle containment and close-coupled cooling complement this; in the closed version (solid sheet steel doors, IP 54), active side-mounted cooling units CVE and roof-mounted cooling units ETE are also possible — selectable directly in the configurator. The server rack cooling page gives an overview of all cooling levels; the cooling capacity calculator gives you the required cooling capacity in seconds.
Surface & material
Sheet steel; side panels, doors and roof plate powder-coated in RAL 7035 (light grey) or RAL 9005 (black), mounting rails and metal parts galvanised. Degree of protection IP 20 to IP 54 according to EN 60529 — the closed version with solid sheet steel doors achieves IP 54.
The industry page racks for AI & GPU infrastructure shows it in heavy-duty use.
Frequently asked questions — Z-SERVER
What sizes does the Z-SERVER come in?
Three heights: 42, 45 and 47 U (frame heights 2000/2100/2200 mm), widths 600/800 mm, depths 1000/1200 mm — all 12 combinations available.
Why is the Z-SERVER suitable for AI and GPU racks?
Because of its load capacity: static 1,600 kg on levelling feet, 2,000 kg without levelling feet — GPU servers including UPS quickly reach 800–1,200 kg per rack. In addition, 86 % door perforation and, for heavy equipment on sliding rails, a reinforcement kit that can be retrofitted. More in the AI & GPU guide.
What is the Z-SERVER BOX?
The cold aisle/hot aisle containment based on the Z-SERVER: rows of racks are joined into a closed aisle with roofs, sliding doors and seals — this significantly reduces the energy required for cooling. Details: data centre solutions.
Can I convert an 800 mm wide rack from 19 to 21 inches?
Yes — on 800 mm wide racks the spacing can be changed from 19 to 21 inches without additional mounting parts. The PREMIUM mounting rails are infinitely adjustable without tools.
