Container data centre
& modular data centre

If there is no server room, the data centre simply comes as a module: in a container, in a walk-in outdoor enclosure or as a compact Databox in a hall. ZPAS supplies the complete interior — racks, containment, cooling, monitoring and access control — as one ready-to-fit system.

Bringing computing power to where it is needed

A container data centre from ZPAS is a modular data centre in a 10/20/40-foot container, in a hall or in a walk-in outdoor enclosure, whose IT interior — Z-SERVER racks, cold aisle containment, cooling and AKCP monitoring — is supplied pre-assembled ex works for 1 to 10+ racks. Not every project gets a classic server room: production sites need edge computing power next to the line, utilities and telcos need IT at outdoor sites, growing companies need fast capacity without conversion work. The answer is modular: a container data centre or a Databox — the enclosed rack cell that stands in a container, in a hall or in a walk-in outdoor enclosure.

For this, ZPAS supplies the complete interior: Z-SERVER racks, cold aisle containment, cooling, AKCP monitoring with access control — pre-assembled, documented, expandable. For small edge sites, there is the Small Data Box as a compact complete solution.

If a single rack is enough for the site, a container is one size too big: this is where the micro data centre comes in — a rack with its own cooling, space for a UPS, access control and monitoring, installed in a hall, branch or technical corridor. As requirements grow, the same modular system leads via containment to the modular solution on this page.

Typical applications

🏭

Edge in production

Compact Databox next to the line: 1–4 racks, enclosed and air-conditioned — without a dedicated server room.

📦

Container fit-out

Racks, aisle containment, cable routes and cooling for 10/20/40-foot containers — planned for your shell or supplied with a partner.

🌦️

IT outdoors

Walk-in outdoor enclosures and outdoor server racks for network nodes and radio sites — −40 to +70 °C.

🖥️

Server room retrofit

Where a room exists but there is no order: Databox as a room-in-room solution with defined airflow.

🔐

Security & access

AKCP access control down to rack level, video and sensors — also for unmanned sites.

📈

Scaling

Bayable racks and modular containment: from 2 to 10 racks without changing systems.

Requirements — clearly classified

Cooling according to load

From split cooling to a cold aisle solution — designed according to heat load, redundant where necessary.

Statics & transport

Z-SERVER racks: 1,600 kg static on levelling feet, 2,000 kg without; bolted down for transport inside the container.

Monitoring ex works

Temperature, humidity, power, door, video — with alarms by e-mail/SMS for unstaffed sites.

Documented & expandable

Drawings, test reports, access to spare parts — and reserve space for the second expansion stage.

Why ZPAS

Because modular data centres fail at the interfaces: racks from one supplier, cooling from another, monitoring from a third. ZPAS supplies the interior as one system with one contact person — planned in the Databox configurator, assembled ex works.

The wider context is described on the industry page Server racks for data centres.

Frequently asked questions

Does ZPAS supply complete container data centres?

ZPAS supplies the complete IT interior — racks, containment, cooling, monitoring, cable routes — to suit your container shell or in cooperation with container partners. The ZPAS technical team handles the planning on a project-specific basis.

What is a Databox?

An enclosed rack cell with defined cold/warm air routing — as a room-in-room solution in a hall or container. Configurable in the Databox configurator, from 1 to 10+ racks.

Can computing power also be located entirely outdoors?

Yes — as a walk-in outdoor enclosure or as an air-conditioned outdoor server rack based on the SZD series with a 19-inch level, operating range −40 to +70 °C.

How are unmanned sites monitored?

With AKCP monitoring ex works: sensors for climate and power, door contacts, cameras and access control — alarms by e-mail/SMS, log for each access.
