The SZB IT-MAX is ZPAS’s 19″ network and server rack with enlarged dimensions: up to 52 U and up to 1,000 mm wide, depths from 600 to 1,200 mm, load capacity up to 1,500 kg, degree of protection IP 20 according to EN 60529. Design and accessories are compatible with SZB IT and DSR IT. Until now it was listed only in ZPAS’s Polish catalogue — it is now also available via ZPAS GROUP GmbH.
Why 52 U and 1,000 mm wide?
More rack units on the same footprint. 52 instead of 42 U means ten more rack units or 24 % more installation space per rack position, without any additional floor space in the server room or in the cold aisle containment. Compared with 47 U, that is five more units.
Space beside the 19″ plane. The 19″ mounting rails take up the same installation width whatever the rack width. At 1,000 mm wide, there is considerably more space to the left and right of them for vertical power strips (PDUs), patch cables and thick cable bundles — exactly what densely populated racks with many network and power connections need, for example for AI and GPU servers or core distribution.
Cable entry for three-phase plugs. The floor and roof plates have 71 mm wide cable openings through which supply cables with three-phase plugs will pass. Unused openings are closed with knock-out blanks.

Load capacity: 1,000 or 1,500 kg
The permissible static load depends on the depth. It applies when the mounting rails are positioned 50–150 mm behind the front and rear and the load is evenly distributed:
Plan the move-in: 2,408 mm frame height
A 52 U rack will not fit upright through any standard door. It is brought in lying down or tilted and only stood upright once in the room. As it is raised, it pivots over the bottom edge — the room height must therefore be at least the diagonal of frame height and depth, plus feet or plinth and clearance to cable trays below the ceiling:
Also check the lift car, corridor bends and door widths along the route. The rack can stand directly on the floor without feet — nothing protrudes beneath the rack. If the height is not sufficient, 47 U (2,186 mm) is the next size down. The server rack dimensions page compares the frame heights of all series.
Equipment and scope of delivery
Material: frame, panels, doors, mounting rails and C-profiles made of sheet steel, door glass made of toughened safety glass. Surface powder-coated in RAL 7035 (light grey) or RAL 9005 (black), mounting rails and C-profiles galvanised. Degree of protection IP 20 according to EN 60529 (not for brush entries). Accessories such as plinth, roof, blanking panels, shelves, guide rails, cable management, ventilation, lighting and power distribution come from the 19″ accessories range.
Special versions
To order, ZPAS also manufactures the SZB IT-MAX in different dimensions. One example from the catalogue is a rack for row installation with 52 U and 700 × 1,400 mm: floor plate with a large cut-out, roof plate with perforated knock-out panels, asymmetric double doors (400 + 300 mm), partition walls instead of side panels, an asymmetrically positioned 19″ frame and a bracket for a vertical power strip. Special versions are costed and scheduled per project.
Frequently asked questions — SZB IT-MAX
What sizes does the SZB IT-MAX come in?
Four heights: 42, 45, 47 and 52 U (frame heights 1,963–2,408 mm). The 1,000 mm width is available in all four heights with depths from 600 to 1,200 mm. 52 U is also available in 800 mm width (depth 600–1,200 mm) and 600 mm width (depth 800–1,200 mm) — 23 standard sizes in total. Special sizes on request.
What is the load capacity?
Static 1,000 kg at 600/800 mm depth and 1,500 kg at 1,000/1,200 mm depth — with mounting rails 50–150 mm behind the front and rear and an evenly distributed load.
Will a 52 U rack fit through a standard door?
Not upright: the frame is 2,408 mm high, while typical interior doors have a clear height of around 2.0 m. The rack is brought in lying down or tilted and stood upright in the room. This requires a room height of at least the diagonal of height and depth — around 2.61 m at 1,000 mm depth, plus feet or plinth. Check doors, lift, corridors and room height before ordering.
What is the difference between the SZB IT-MAX and the SZB IT?
How long is the delivery time?
Around 6 weeks for the standard sizes in the version table. Special versions are scheduled per project.
